Code of Ethics & Conduct
Thank you for considering becoming part of our Ethical CO-OP Breeding Program. This initiative was created to give loving families the opportunity to experience the joy of raising a litterโwithout the burden of logistics, ethical dilemmas, or health concerns. It is a guided, supported, and meaningful experience, not a business venture.
We carefully manage every stepโfrom health testing to placement in forever homesโto protect our dogs, our program, and the future of canine genetics.
๐ Core Values
- Compassion & Care
We prioritize the physical and emotional wellbeing of all dogs and puppies in our program. - Responsibility Over Profit
This is not a โbreeding businessโโthis is a family experience, rooted in ethical values and controlled environments. - Transparency & Trust
Open communication and collaboration between us and the guardian families are essential. - Genetic Integrity
We breed only when appropriate and only with pre-approved pairings that meet our strict health standards.
๐ Participation Rules & Conduct
โ General Program Requirements
- All breeding dogs must pass our health and genetic screenings. We cover all costs and scheduling.
- If your dog does not qualify, you will not participate in the program, but receive $500 off a future puppy from the CO-OP.
- Owners are subject to a home inspection and interview process. Approval/denial is based on our approval terms. But we do our best to accommodate most enthusiastic parties who want to learn.
- No one is accepted into the Ethical Breeding Program until they are approved by the co-op and documents are drawn up to ensure both parties understand the terms.
๐ซ Outside Breeding
- You may not breed your dog with any non-CO-OP dog.
- All breedings must be pre-approved and coordinated with our team.
- If genetic testing (e.g., Embark DNA) reveals unauthorized breeding, legal action will be taken.
๐ถ Puppy Placement
- The CO-OP selects all families for puppies. We do this to ensure the best long-term fit and placement.
- You may recommend potential adopters, but all must go through our standard process and pay the full purchase price to the CO-OP.
- Puppies may not be given away, sold independently, or transferred without written CO-OP approval.
๐ Breeding Timeline
- Breeding timing and logistics are always collaboratively decided with the dogโs best interest in mind.
- Female dogs will have a maximum of 3 litters, after which we cover the cost of spaying.
๐ธ Pay Structure
Female Dogs (Whelping Families)
Litter Number | Payout per Puppy |
---|---|
1st Litter | $500 (example: 5 pups =$2500) |
2nd Litter | $750 (example: 5 pups = $3750 |
3rd Litter | $1000 (example 5 pups = $5000) |
- Maximum 3 litters total. You do not have to participate in all 3 litters, you can opt to do 1 or 2.
- Spay is scheduled and covered after the third litter. A traditional hysterectomy is covered, owners can opt for hormone sparring treatments, or tubal ligation, but those procedures are not covered by the co-op.
Male Dogs (Stud Families)
Stud Session | Payout |
---|---|
Per Session | $250 |
- Maximum sessions determined by the CO-OP
- Stud dogs must also pass all health testing and remain exclusive to the program. Your dog will be DNA tested and we retain rights to this DNA. If stud dog is found to be breeding outside the CO-OP contract, terms are considered broken and legal recourse may be pursued.
- Neuter is covered after contract ends. You will be required to fix your dog, either via a vasectomy (hormone sparring sterilization) nor traditional neuter.
๐งฌ Why These Rules Exist
We know you love your dogโand this program isnโt about questioning your ability or gatekeeping your choices. But we know the numbers:
- A single breeding can eventually lead to hundreds of offspring, many of whom may be bred again, often without any oversight.
- This leads to poor genetic health, overpopulation, and ultimately, dogs ending up in shelters.
This program exists to protect your dogโs genetics, to ensure every puppy finds a forever home, has a wide-network of support should any future issue arise, and to give your family the chance to create beautiful memories without the stress of traditional breeding.

๐ค Final Thoughts

Weโre honored to walk this journey with you.
