Meeting a Puppy from Our CO-OP: What to Expect

Where Do Puppy Meetings Happen?

Meetings take place in pet-friendly public locations, most often inside one of our store partners. When you arrive, you’ll likely see the puppy in a stroller—a safe and sanitary setup to protect young pups (all pups are vaccinated and micro-chipped before they are allowed to participate in meeting or visits).

All locations allow pets, so feel free to bring your current dog along! Be sure to coordinate with the breeder via text or phone call.

How Are Puppy Meetings and Adoptions Finalized?

If you are NOT opting for home delivery or airport pickup, meetings and adoptions take place in one of two ways:

  • Public Meet-Ups: Typically held in pet-friendly stores or outdoor locations.
  • Private CO-OP Partner Locations: Select breeders have access to private offices or work with pet partners to finalize adoptions.

The exact location will be provid

ed in your confirmation email after a phone call with the breeder to confirm your meeting day and time.

Why Not At Home?

Health & Safety

Puppies under 15 weeks are vulnerable to illness. Visitors can unintentionally bring viruses like parvo and kennel cough. Our breeders sanitize carefully and limit home traffic to protect the puppies.

Security & Privacy

There have been documented incidents of theft and violence related to in-home puppy meetings. Our public meeting policy helps protect both families and breeders.

Harassment Concerns

Unfortunately, some breeders have faced harassment from anti-breeding activists. Public meetings ensure a respectful, neutral environment.

Will I Get to Know the Puppy’s Background?

Yes! Transparency is key to our CO-OP process. You can explore:

  • Detailed puppy profile pages
  • “Meet the Parents” sections with video and photos
  • Testimonials and reviews from other adoptive families

You can also request:

  • Individual puppy videos
  • Virtual home tours
  • Invites to CO-OP events

Why Public Meetings Are Better

Public settings provide a chance to observe the puppy’s natural behavior in a neutral space. Temperament tests like the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test use this method to assess personality traits in new environments.

Important Meeting Details

  • No deposit is required before meeting the puppy in person.
  • Puppies must be vaccinated and microchipped before meetings.
  • Puppies will remain in a stroller and must not be placed on the ground.
  • Visitors must use a specially-formulated hand sanitizer before interacting with the puppy.

Looking Ahead

We plan to reintroduce home visits once a secure vetting system is in place. We’re also working to establish dedicated pet-partner locations for CO-OP events, pickups, and evaluations.
